Experience
John joined Gilbert McGloan Gillis in 2001, and carries a broad general practice in litigation, corporate and commercial, employment, property and administrative matters.
He has drafted and negotiated commercial agreements, structured corporate reorganizations, and prepared wills and powers of attorney.
John also spent five years with the Province of New Brunswick, most recently as senior counsel in the Litigation Group of the Office of the Attorney General. He appears at all levels of court and before administrative boards and tribunals.
Adjudication
John has fourteen years of experience as an adjudicator on seven boards and tribunals, including the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal, the Social Security Tribunal of Canada and the Assessment and Planning Appeal Board.
Access to justice
In 2012 John founded the Saint John Legal Clinic, which helped more than 1,000 clients pro bono over nine years. The work earned him the 2018 E. Neil McKelvey Q.C. Pro Bono and Volunteer Service Award.
